= EON GAMES INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS =
 -------------------------------------

These are the general installation instructions for all Eon Games
products. If you have any trouble installing the product or with
registering a commercial copy, contact support@eongames.com.

For the latest versions and information about other games, check our
website at http://eongames.com/

 --------------------------------------
= COPYING THE IPK FILES TO YOUR ZAURUS =
 --------------------------------------

The first step in installation is to copy all ipk packages contained
in this ZIP-file to your Zaurus. You must place the files either on a
Secure Digital card (/mnt/card/), a Compact Flash card (/mnt/cf), or
in the directory /home/root/Documents/. After doing this, start the
[Add/Remote Software] application in the [Settings] tab and click on
the [Install packages] button.

If the packages don't show up in the list of packages available for
installation, make sure they are placed in one of the above
directories.

 ---------------------------
= INSTALLING EXTRA PACKAGES =
 ---------------------------

The first step is to install the extra packages that the product
depends on. This might be one or more of these:

	- eon-libflac (FLAC audio decoder library)
	- eon-libsdl (SDL and SDL_mixer libraries)
	- eonconfig (Eon Config's game configuration tool)

Note that the libraries shipped with our products might be stripped
for size. I.e they will only be suitable for usage with Eon Games'
products and are thus installed to a non-standard library to avoid
conflicts with other libraries.

 ---------------------
= INSTALLING THE GAME =
 ---------------------

When you have installed all the extra packages, install the game
itself. You don't need to exit the game after installing the other
packages - just click on the game to install it.

 --------------------
= NOTES ON UPGRADING =
 --------------------

When you are upgrading an already installed game, you need to first
uninstall it using the [Add/Remove Software] application. Game data
and settings won't be lost when you uninstall and reinstall a game.

= EON CONFIG FAQ =
 ----------------

Q: What is Eon Config?

A: Eon Config is a tool that can be used to configure certain aspect
   of some of our games.

Q: Why use a separate tool for these options?

A: Because often adding options to the games themselves would be a
considerable amount of work and is often not feasible.

Q: What options are there?

A: Gamma correction, which adjust the brightness (gamma level to be
   exact) of the game.

A: Grab hardware keys: This allows the use of all the hardware buttons
on the PDA. iPAQ or Zaurus A300 users might need to do this to be
able to configure and use the keys correctly. This is disabled per
default because when this is enabled, Qtopia does not regain the
use of the buttons after the application exits due to a bug. You
need to restart Qtopia to reset the buttons. Note that you can
still play games which grab these keys - it's just the default
   functionality which is missing.

Q: Do you plan to add more options?

A: Sure. For example it would be nice to be able to bind the keys in
Strategic Assault. However nothing is promised. If you have a good
suggestion, drop a mail to info@eongames.com.

----------------------------------
= INSTALLATION FAQ - COMMON ISSUES =
 ----------------------------------

Q: Does Eon Games' products work with OPIE on an iPAQ? What about Open
   Zaurus?

A: Yes, all our games should work on any iPAQ or Zaurus device running
either Qtopia or OPIE. If you have problems, please report to
   bugs@eongames.com

Q: When I try to install a game, I get an error that says
[ikpg said something went wrong]. What does this mean?

A: This means that an error occurred during the installation.
Unfortunately it doesn't say what the error was. The most common
reason was that the internal storage ran out of space. Even when
you install to Compact Flash or Secure Digital, the entire package
is unpacked in the internal storage first. This means that you
should always make sure your internal storage has plenty of space
   free for installations.

Q: The installation went fine, but when I try to run the game nothing
happens. If I try to run the game from the konsole, I get a
[Bus error] message and nothing else. What can cause this?

A: In general this means that the storage was filled up during the
installation but ipkg failed to detect it. Uninstall the game, free
up some internal storage and try again.

Q: The game won't install to Secure Digital / Compact Flash. Why?

A: This might again be caused by the internal storage being full, but
it might also be a problem with the package itself. If freeing up
internal memory, or storage space on the CF/SD card doesn't help,
please report this problem to bugs@eongames.com.

Q: I get some other error during installation. What should I do?

A: Send an email to support@eongames.com outlining you problems as
best as you can and we'll try help resolving the issue.
